I was one of the last interns at The Boulder Weekly to be able to fluctuate throughout each section because today their interns must commit to one section only. Below you'll see links from the cuisine, Arts & Entertainment, and Boulderganics sections. Working here was rewarding in many ways, including learning the fast-paced nature of the daily procedures that are involved with a weekly newspaper and ever-changing website.

The CUIndependent.com was the first journalism experience I ever had and is still the publication in which I have published and edited the most work. Throughout college I covered all of CU's sports scene, music and politics. I was also a Copy Editor and Multimedia Reporter, with some examples being in the Multimedia page of this site. The following links are to selected stories from my time at CUI, and to see my entire collection of work at CUI click here and here.

Faces of Boulder is a spin off of Humans of New York, but based in America's 'Happiest City'. It involved classic photojournalism and interviewing skills, and was a very rewarding project that I accomplished with one of my best friends who is also a photographer, Travis Bildahl.

I interned under Ryan Dionne at Skiing Business in the fall of 2012 while I was a copy editor at the CUIndependent.com and a correspondent for NextGen Journal. This internship was a lot of fun as I was focused on writing about issues with skiing and business owners within the industry, and it was the first opportunity I was given to write to a large audience of readers. It was pretty much just Ryan and I working on the site so I learned valuable skills in Wordpress and Adobe Photoshop that has now allowed me to understand how a journalistic website should run and keep and audience involved on a frequent basis.

Next Gen Journal was a really great opportunity I was given in the fall of 2012 in which I was able to be one of the only correspondents in Colorado covering the Obama campaign during the 2012 presidential election. I was able to see President Obama eight different times during the campaign as he traveled around Colorado. I learned countless lessons from other journalists on what covering U.S. politics is like, and it was all very exciting and rewarding as a young journalist.

The Copper Mountain Blog site was an awesome gig I had in the winter of 2012-13. I got a free season pass, lodging at Copper for various days and I was able to see a few really great events. Overall, becoming a part of the Copper community was an amazing experience. It really is a magical mountain and my articles published with them express the love I have for Copper.
